Since 1979
It started with two desks and a drafting table.
Four and a half decades, three generations of one family, and one rule that never changed: walk the site, engineer the whole system, and stand behind it.
The Founders
Three brothers, one conviction.
The three brothers who started Gabtic in 1979 — with a single drafting table and a promise to stand behind every system they supplied.
The tradition continues with the next generation.

Two desks and a drafting table
Gabtic opened in a two-room office in downtown Cairo with a rotary telephone, a drafting table, and one conviction: that Egypt's buildings deserved mechanical systems that were engineered, not just delivered. The founder had spent years watching imported equipment fail because nobody had sized it for a Cairo summer. He decided the company would take responsibility for the whole system, from calculation to commissioning.
The drafting table from that room is still in the Cairo headquarters.

The first office, Cairo, 1979. The first two hires
The first two employees were a mechanical engineer fresh from Cairo University and a site technician who had learned pumps on the Nile barges. Between them they covered every role the young company needed: one drew the systems, the other made them run. Their habit of walking the site together before quoting a job became Gabtic's first unwritten rule, and it is still how the company estimates work today.

Gabtic's first two employees outside the original office. The first warehouse
Clients kept asking the same question: can you get the parts? Gabtic answered by leasing a small warehouse and stocking pumps, motors, and valves so that an emergency repair no longer waited on a three-month import. Holding inventory was expensive for a young company. It also made Gabtic the supplier facility managers phoned first.

The original stock of pumps and motors, 1986. From supplier to contractor
By the mid-nineties Gabtic was no longer just supplying equipment. The team had grown to include installation crews and commissioning engineers, and the company began taking full electro-mechanical packages on hotels, hospitals, and industrial plants. The second generation of the family joined during these years, starting on site like everyone else.

The district cooling boom brought Gabtic its largest challenge yet: engineering the pumping, filtration, and controls for a plant designed to serve an entire new city. Delivering at that scale changed the company's systems, its procurement, and its ambition. It also proved that a family firm from Cairo could hold its own alongside the largest international contractors.

When Egypt built a museum to house its most significant antiquities, the air inside had to be cleaner than almost any building in the world. Gabtic engineered the gas-phase filtration protecting the galleries, a project that drew on four decades of experience and the manufacturer partnerships built along the way. The same year, the company earned ISO 9001:2015 certification.

Commissioning walk-through in a 110,000 m² museum. Three generations, thirteen disciplines
Gabtic today is a team of more than seventy-five engineers, technicians, and specialists representing over fifteen global manufacturers across thirteen disciplines. The third generation of the family now works alongside colleagues whose parents joined in the eighties. The office is bigger and the projects are larger, but the rule from 1979 still holds: walk the site, engineer the whole system, and stand behind it.
