Fire protection
Fire pump sets to NFPA 20, UL/FM listed, for residential and commercial towers
A complete fire pump package for towers: main fire pump, jockey pump and listed controllers, selected from your sprinkler and standpipe demand and documented so the consultant and Civil Defence can approve it.
For MEP contractors and fire-fighting subcontractors on towers, offices, malls and mixed-use buildings.

What a tower fire pump set has to do
In a tower the fire pump must reach the highest sprinkler and standpipe outlet at the required pressure, then keep doing it for the whole duration of a fire.
- Deliver the rated flow at the rated pressure for the most demanding sprinkler and standpipe zone
- Meet the NFPA 20 performance rules: at least 65% of rated pressure at 150% of rated flow, and a churn pressure within the allowed limit
- Start automatically on pressure drop and keep running until stopped by hand
- Keep the system pressurised day to day with a jockey pump, so the main pump does not short-cycle
What to specify
These are the points consultants usually check first on a fire pump submittal.
- UL listing and FM approval for the pump, driver and controller as one package, not only the pump
- Driver type: electric, diesel, or electric duty with diesel standby
- Horizontal split-case for most tower duties; vertical in-line or end-suction where flow is small
- Listed fire pump controller and jockey pump controller, with remote alarm contacts for the fire alarm panel
- Test header or flow meter, relief valve and suction arrangement to NFPA 20
- High-rise zoning: whether one pump set serves the whole building or zones need pressure-reducing valves or separate sets
How Gabtic supplies it
We handle the package from selection to acceptance test.
- Selection from your hydraulic calculation, with the duty point marked on the listed curve
- Submittals with data sheets, listing evidence, drawings and a clause-by-clause compliance statement
- Delivery coordinated with your programme, with lead times confirmed in writing
- Attendance at the factory acceptance and site acceptance tests, and support for Civil Defence inspection
- Spare parts and service in Egypt after handover
What to send us for a selection
With these, an engineer can return a selection and a quote.
- Required flow and pressure at the pump discharge (or the hydraulic calculation)
- Building height and number of fire zones
- Preferred driver: electric, diesel, or both
- Water source: tank, suction head or lift
- Specification clauses or consultant name
- Required delivery date

Common questions
Is the whole fire pump package UL/FM listed, or only the pump?
Listing applies to the specific approved pump, driver and controller combination. Gabtic selects a listed combination for your duty and includes the listing evidence in the submittal.
Should a tower use an electric or a diesel fire pump?
It depends on how reliable the power supply is and what the consultant and Civil Defence require. Many towers use an electric duty pump with a diesel standby. Send the specification and we will propose the arrangement it calls for.
Does Gabtic attend fire pump acceptance testing?
Yes. Our engineers attend testing and commissioning on site and support the inspection, so the pump is accepted against its rated curve.
Send us the duty and we will select it
Our engineers reply with a selection, performance curves and a quote. If your consultant needs documents first, ask for a submittal pack.
